Smithsonian Fountain/ Julia Child's Kitchen

Today we did one of the DC touristy things and went to the Smithsonian.

It was a typically hot DC day, so it was nice to dip our toes in the sculpture garden fountain outside.

We went inside the American History Museum. Among the exhibits now on display is Julia Child's Kitchen.

Later we walked down the Mall, which would more appropriately be called "the embarrassment."  It's sad how little attention/ funding/ upkeep the Mall gets from the park service. The grass is dead/ dying (although most of what is supposed to be grass is just mowed weeds). The pathways are worn. Down at the end, the reflecting pool is filled with algae. Yuk.
